For over 40 years the SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality has prepared young people for their professional career, with a particular focus on hospitality and gastronomy. All of our programs, at all educational levels, have a strong leaning towards hands-on experience. Thanks to well-founded knowledge and practical work experience, our graduates can be involved in the field immediately and are comfortable with, and able to accept, responsibility.

Throughout their SSTH education, our students are in demand as personnel in the hospitality industry. Every year they support service teams in hotels, at events and banquets, with the know-how to serve guests in a courteous and efficient manner. These practical experiences are very valuable support for the education provided at SSTH.

Along with external events, students also have the opportunity to be involved in banquets and other activities organized in the school hotel. These can be for up to 200 guests, or even more than 2000, as is the case with the annual on-campus Food Festival.

Created more than 25 years ago, Vatel, International Business School Hotel & Tourism Management, trains the future operational and senior managers of the hospitality and tourism industry. Recognised by top representatives of the hotel industry, the school has an international recognition thanks to the teaching concept of the right balance between academic theory and professional practice.

Vatel students obtain national university degrees that are recognised worldwide. The employment rate of Vatel graduates or post graduates is as high as 90%. Last, but not least more than 9,000 Vatelians work in the most prestigious hotels around the world having thus built a very positive image of the Vatel Hotel School and its hotel management programmes.

IHTTI is one of the most established hotel management schools in Switzerland with a long and proud history. ESHotel was founded in 1991, in Lille inaugurated by Paul Dubrule, co-fonder of the French Accor group. ESHotel Lille is located in a spacious building in the center of Tourcoing. The renowed Restaurant is a place where our students can apply their knowledge of the service industry. Equipped with a language laboratory and Amadeus reservation system for the Bachelor in Tourism, ESHotel offers a quality environment for training.

ESHotel Paris is located 5 minutes walk from Center of Paris, in Clichy, tube station Mairie de Clichy, in a modern complex on 16 000 ft². ESHotel in Paris prepares a Bachelor of Hotel Management in French and a Master in Hotel Management in English.

ESHotel London opened its third school in 2005, hosted by Hult University on Russell Square, central London, close to the British Museum. The first year of the Master is taught there, for students with a Bachelor in Hotel Management or a Bachelor in General Management with work experience in the hotel industry.

Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung (Tourism Institute of Bandung) was formerly under the department of Indonesian Tourism, arts and culture. The building of Bandung Tourism Higher Education began when Sekolah Kejuruan Perhotelan (Hotel Vocational School) was established in 1959, this vocational high school wasl under the department of education and culture. In 1962 this school was changed into Sekolah Kejuruan Perhotelan dan Perestoranan (Hotel and Restaurant Vocational School) under the department of land transportation.

On March 11th 1963 Akademi Perhotelan dan Perestoranan (Hotel and Restaurant Academy) was established to further study for hotel and restaurant school graduates, the length of study was for 3 years. This academy was changed into Akademi Perhotelan National (National Hotel Academy) on March 8 th 1965. This was the first academy in Indonesia for hotel study. On March 7 th 1967, the department of land transportation then joined the National Hotel Academy with Hotel and Restaurant Vocational School, the name became Pusat Pendidikan Kepariwisataan (Tourism Education Centre). The name was changed again into Akademi Perhotelan National (National Hotel Academy) on Januari 6 th 1970.

The Hotel Management School at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. PolyU is a university with a proud and illustrious history. Formerly known as the Hong Kong Polytechnic, the Institution assumed full university status in 1994.

PolyU is strategically located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, on a site of approximately 93,500 square metres adjacent to the Cross Harbour Tunnel. There has been extensive development and rapid expansion since the last 10 years. The University is the largest UGC-funded tertiary institution in terms of number of students. A wide range of courses which directly meets industrial, commercial and community needs is offered. In addition to meeting Hong Kong's manpower requirements, PolyU also makes significant contributions towards the territory's success by providing the public and private sectors with its expanding range of consultancy, professional training and applied research services. Through these activities, the University maintains a strong partnership with the business and industrial sectors.

Over the years, more than 250,000 young men and women have graduated from PolyU and its predecessors - the Hong Kong Polytechnic, the Hong Kong Technical College and the Government Trade School. The graduates have found their places in various sectors of the society, dedicating their knowledge and expertise to the building and development of Hong Kong's thriving economy.

In 1993, 47 students from Australia and 10 other countries formed ICHM's first intake. Today, ICHM boasts record enrolment levels. Students have come from more than 70 countries, and we now have graduates on all parts of the globe enjoying successful careers.

Based on our Swiss Hotel Association heritage, ICHM maintains strong industry links that are vital for maintaining our high standards and relevance.
ICHM emphasises industry cooperative training, with industry placement (internship) taking up to 50% of the total program. Guest lectures by international industry leaders and site inspections also form part of the course.
 
All teaching staff have extensive industry experience and undertake ongoing professional development, with several lecturers visiting their industry counterparts around the world each year. It is this commitment to the development of industry competence that earns ICHM, its students and graduates, the credibility and respect demanded of hospitality professionals and future leaders of the industry.

Over the past 30 years, hotel schools worldwide have broadened their curricula so the subjects they offer prepare young people for much more than the relatively ‘narrow’ field of hotel keeping. The focus is on practical as well as theoretical training, with emphasis on traditional values of service and hospitality. To this end, curricula now include food and beverage, accommodation, tourism as well as business-orientated subjects such as accounting, communications, marketing and human resources management.

Today hotel school graduates seek careers in a wide variety of lodging establishments – from the small remote bush lodge to timeshare resorts and luxury five-star city-centre hotels. Some graduates prefer to utilise their specialist skills in the culinary field in restaurants, contract and airline catering. The recent boom in casino-based development and internationally recognised convention centres have also created new and exciting opportunities.
